About AC Yacht & Boat Surveyors
AC Yacht & Boat Surveyors was founded by Angus Corry, a sailor and marine surveyor with over 40 years of practical experience working with a wide variety of vessels. Angus built his knowledge through decades of hands-on work — refitting, maintaining and surveying craft of many different types and construction — before completing the Yacht and Small Craft Surveying course with the International Institute of Marine Surveying (IIMS) and qualifying as a professional marine surveyor.
Under Angus, the business established a strong reputation across the North of England and Scotland for clear, practical reporting and straightforward professional service. That reputation is built on a simple principle: give clients the information they need, in plain language, to make confident decisions.
Mike Hunter has worked closely alongside Angus and is taking on the day-to-day running of the business, bringing the same commitment to independent, honest surveying that AC Yacht & Boat Surveyors has always been known for. Angus remains involved with the business in a compliance and advisory capacity, ensuring the professional standards and expertise built over four decades continue to underpin every survey carried out.
Based in Dearham near Maryport, Cumbria, AC Yacht & Boat Surveyors continues to provide independent marine surveys for buyers, owners and insurers across the UK.
Marine Surveys Where You Need Them
Surveys can be arranged at marinas, boatyards, moorings, inland waterways, harbours and other suitable locations. Whether your boat is based locally or elsewhere in the UK, we are happy to discuss the location and confirm whether attendance can be arranged.
Supporting Boat Owners, Buyers and Insurers
We provide surveys for a wide range of purposes, including pre-purchase, insurance, valuation and condition reporting. If you are unsure which type of survey is most suitable, we can advise based on the vessel, its location and the reason the survey is needed.
Planning Your Survey
When making an enquiry, it helps to provide the vessel type, make and model if known, length, age, current location and the reason for the survey. This allows us to advise on the most suitable survey and confirm whether attendance can be arranged for your area.
