Insurance Surveys
An insurance survey is carried out to help insurers determine whether a vessel is an acceptable risk. It focuses on structural integrity, the condition of safety-critical equipment and the vessel’s suitability for its intended use.
Most insurers require a survey when placing a vessel on risk for the first time. For vessels over 20 years old, many insurers also require a repeat survey every five years. The survey will typically need to confirm the vessel’s fair market value as well as its condition.
Clear, Professional Reporting
Reports are structured to provide clear, easy-to-understand information for both owners and insurers. Key findings are presented without unnecessary complexity.
When an Insurance Survey is Required
An insurance survey is commonly needed when applying for a new policy, renewing existing cover on an older vessel, or when an insurer specifically requests one following a change in circumstances or vessel condition. If your insurer has asked for a survey, get in touch and we can confirm the most appropriate type of inspection.
What the Survey Covers
The survey assesses the overall structural condition of the vessel, safety equipment and installations, visible defects or damage, and general maintenance condition. Findings are presented clearly in a written report structured to meet insurer requirements.
